Must Have Google Extensions For Writers

Writing is not a simple task and not all of us are at a point where we can hire human resources and also where we can perfect our books ourselves. During my time writing and also my researching on YouTube I discovered the beauty that is google extensions. Having these extensions has improved my writing and made it easier to edit and publish. Here are a few of the extensions I use. I might update this list at a future date if I discover more goodies or make a separate post.

1) ProWritingAid Grammar Checker & Writing Coach

It's description says 'The best writing style and grammar checker for everything you send, share, tweet or publish.' and I agree.
You can choose which sites you wish to enable the extension on. I have used it on the various online novel writing platforms. Also with Quora, Pinterest and Instagram posts, even now as I am writing these blog posts. It catches the spelling and grammar mistakes I make. Which is quite a number.

When I started writing my book, before I published a chapter, I re-read it many times to make sure there were no mistakes. I thought all was good, so imagine my surprise when I downloaded the extension and was going over my work and most of my theirs were spelt thier. There were many, many other spelling errors that still eluded me, and I only noticed them after I got the extension. Other than spelling, there were also many grammar errors I made with punctuation in the wrong places or lack of punctuations. Run-on sentences, sticky sentences, overused words and more, using the extension has helped me correct these mistakes and better my writing. The thesaurus is also a pleasant feature that helped me to spice up my writing.

So if you are writing your book, I recommend getting this extension as it can help to catch those errors you might miss. I especially recommend this if you are not too good with spelling and all the grammar rules like myself.

2) Read Aloud: A Text to Speech Voice Reader

It's description says 'Read aloud the current web-page article with one click, using text to speech (TTS). Supports 40+ languages.'

This is a true blue friend of mine, one I didn't know I was missing. I honestly never realized I needed something to read my work aloud to me. I have triple read my work plus used grammar checkers and I still would find errors after I read the already published chapter.
The thing is grammar checkers will correct grammar and spelling, but it sometimes misses when I use the word 'card' where I should have 'call'.
Having my text read aloud to me allows me to catch on and think, "wait, what did I just hear?"
So I recommend this extension to writers to help them make sure the right words or in their work.
It also sort of brings your work to life. It's as if you are watching your work, though it is just audio. I really like that. Through listening to the descriptions and dialogue, it is almost as if I can see my characters and the setting they live in.
I have had the best experience with this extension, so it is the one I would recommend.

Here is a YouTube video about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQT1XY99X6g

5 Amazing Websites for World Building

Creating a fictional world can be a confusing process. It can be really fun but sometimes while building the world and writing your book you can end up all over the place, more so for  fantasy works. So amongst the hushed whispers of the tavern I have picked up on a few things that made my creating process easier. Now let me let you in on it. 1.Notebook.ai  https://www.notebook.ai I am having a blast using this site. It allows you to create universes, characters, locations, special items and more. You can record the aspects of your world and fill out the forms with details about them. A big plus is that you can add and remove the fields you want under each category and customize them to the fit the needs of your world. So under the Character category, if your world has no magic you can hide our remove that field. Similarly, if the characters can all transform into animals you can add a field called 'transformation' so that it is possible to fill out that information for ...

Youtube Videos on World Building

Are you a bit stuck writing that world of yours? Even with the website I gave before, you still have a bit of trouble with the world building. Well, since you dropped by here are a couple videos that helped me get a better grasp on the world I created for my book.Don't forget though that this is your work, so don't treat all advice as if it's set in stone. 1)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQTQSbjecLg&t=210s How to build a fictional world - Kate Messner As I said in my earlier post on  world building websites , this video was a very short one and some people in the comments said it didn't really answer anything about world building. But for me I  had my first eureka moment after watching this video.  I think most of us grew up watching or reading fantasy work, even if it wasn't some of the most  classic and famous works . Despite those works of fiction and the games we play giving us an  idea the whole concept of world building might still fly ...
